Alabama still leads the nation in FORTIFIED construction with over 12,300 FORTIFIED Designations while North Carolina has overtaken Mississippi with the second-largest concentration of homes. The new mitigation grant program in North Carolina, Strengthen Your Roof, as well as other programs implemented after Hurricane Florence, have drastically increased the state’s number of Designations.
