There is no better way to understand resilient construction than to build it. SHA's Volunteer and Learn program combines a two-hour hands-on training with a volunteer opportunity on an active FORTIFIED construction site with a nonprofit partner such as Habitat for Humanity or SBP.
Participants work alongside experienced builders while learning the fundamentals of beyond-code construction, including what makes a FORTIFIED roof different, how continuous load path works in practice, and why these details matter when a storm hits. It is the kind of learning that sticks.
