Smart Home America is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Mobile, Alabama. Our team brings together expertise in public policy, insurance, construction, and community resilience.

Our Vision: Stronger, sustainable, more resilient communities.

Our Mission: To create stronger communities through collaboration, education, and the promotion of resilient and sustainable policies, products, and building methods.

Since 2009, we've worked across 30+ states to change how homes, multifamily buildings, and communities are built, insured, and recover from disaster. We helped build the first market for the IBHS FORTIFIED construction standard and continue to drive the legislation, grant programs, and industry training that make resilient construction accessible at scale. Our work spans policy and code reform, education and training, and direct technical assistance. We partner with state governments, insurance carriers, housing agencies, and community organizations to make resilient construction the norm, not the exception.
